Father’s Day Reflection

A father is generally a male who begets a child,

Synonymous to a creator, provider, defender and progenitor.

My father is a strong influence on me,

And my greatest desire is to love him and work with him,

But there was a time I thought he never loved me.

You see, there is something about a father’s love,

It is almost like a seal every child needs in his or her life.

Without it, we’re left exposed to the voices of strangers,

And they never really provide the comfort that we need,

Trust me, we all need the assurance of our father’s love.

I have always wanted an influential father,

One who had the admiration of many,

And the leadership to change a generation,

And thank God I have this,

I wish I could give you the whole world Dad,

For all that you do,

Indeed we will give you the world and continue this godly heritage.

I woke up this morning, thinking about how,

Say in the next decade or so, I will be a father too,

One who has begotten children,

What kind of father would I make, I wondered?

It wouldn’t be farfetched from the man I have already decided to be

And continue to be every other day,

I pray I make my ancestors proud and especially you Mr. Peter Amanyi,

May my name be written among the greats,

Because of you.
