Woman of war, Woman of beauty

There is a fight in her
And like the night king, she brings the storm
She’s not just about beauty and roses
There’s a mark that she carries.
Some call it a scar, others an ugly thing
But to her, they tell a story
The tales of the things she has been through
The long dark nights
And the pains she still nurse.

O woman of beauty,
Will you bless my screen with a picture of your beauty?
Will you take up residence on my phone?
Precisely on my call logs
Cos it is you I want to be talking to.
It’s not just your beauty that strikes me
But the courage with which you handle life
The sensibility you have found against all the odds.
You have been marginalized, bruised and treated as second best
And history, to be honest has not told your story sincerely.

But every day, I see you take up reason
Reason not to give up, and not faint
Reason to love and not hate
Reason against their labels and objectification
Reason to thrive and not struggle
Reason to believe that this world can be many things to you,
But it is definitely not set up for your failure
And there is really no limits you can’t exceed.

I see you
And I hear you.
You are a skillful member of our society
An integral makeup of our DNA
You don’t just serve a man’s needs
You are a multiplier
And the way you multiply everything in your care is truly amazing
So amazing that all the science in this world
Cannot understand it
That’s why we talk so little about it.

But you are seen and you are heard
All through history
And even now!

Take your pick
The world is yours!
Your fight is not against stigmatization and stereotypes
Rather it is for the revelation
Of who you truly are
A person of beauty
And a warrior.
